What is a Daily News?

A daily news is a newspaper published on a day-to-day basis. It focuses on current events that affect people in their communities and around the world. It usually includes a mix of topics, including politics and government, business, sports, entertainment, and local news. Some newspapers also include opinions and editorial pieces. The term daily news can also refer to a television or radio broadcast that features daily news.

A weekly newspaper is published once a week, or every two weeks. Weekly newspapers often have smaller circulations than daily papers, and they may serve a small town or rural area or a few neighborhoods in a large city. Some weekly newspapers focus on community journalism, and they may publish information about upcoming local events. They also often feature a variety of lifestyle articles, including theater and arts reviews, restaurant reviews, and recipes.

Most weekly newspapers are paginated (or laid out) on a computer using software programs such as Adobe PageMaker, Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress. Layout includes photographs and their captions (called cut-lines), text and its typefont, and white space. Typically, the news editor checks each page for factual accuracy, proofreading headlines and other copy, or writing cut-lines for photographs. Once the layout is complete, a printed proof is printed on dummy sheets or burned to a CD-ROM or Zip disk and sent to the printing press (either located at the newspaper office or off-site publication plant).

After the newspaper is printed, it is distributed. Depending on the size of the newspaper and its circulation area, it may be delivered by hand to homes and businesses, or it may be delivered in bulk through mail services. In some cases, it is sold at newsstands and convenience stores.
