What is Law New?

law new

Law new reflects the ways in which legal services are being used and offered to clients. This typically means working outside of traditional legal practice boundaries, offering flexible fee arrangements, employing non-lawyer staff and embracing technology to produce better outcomes for clients.

As a result, the industry is shifting from preserving legacy delivery models to delivering customer impact at the speed of business and society. Legal providers are focusing on high net promoter scores, which requires customer centricity and innovation. This paradigm shift will take time, but it is happening and transforming the way legal businesses operate.

The most common form of legislative proposals is a bill. Bills are formally introduced in Congress, where they go through several stages to be debated, changed and voted on. If passed by both houses of Congress and signed by the President, a bill becomes a law. State agencies and courts also have an enormous body of rules – delegated legislation – which is often referred to as the law. These are typically compiled into codes, laws or regulations.

Some recent examples of law new include a ban on abortions in New Hampshire at 24 weeks of gestation and a law prohibiting discrimination based on racial or ethnic origin in employment and public accommodations in Illinois. The latter was inspired by the case of Gus “Jett” Hawkins, a Black boy at a Chicago school who was told to remove his braids because they violated the dress code. The legislation was also prompted by the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man shot dead by police.

Another example is the law requiring that third-party food delivery services be licensed in New York City. This will require that these companies obtain a license, and repeals the subchapter in the Administrative Code that contains existing laws regulating these services.

The final example is a law to require City departments to provide their employees and job applicants with information on student loan forgiveness programs. This is a law that is not only new, but will have an impact on thousands of people who work for the City. These are just a few of the many examples of new laws that are being adopted and implemented at the local, state and federal levels.
